About the Grampian Club

Who we are, where we are and what we do...

about-the-grampian-club

We are a Dundee based climbing club with a membership of about 230. Most of our members live in or around Tayside though we also have members from all parts of Scotland and farther afield.

The Grampian Club enables members to participate in mountaineering, hillwalking and climbing activities through a program of day, weekend and indoor meets, informally organised  indoor and outdoor climbing, and a range of social activities of interest to members.

The Grampian Club has an experienced and enthusiastic climbing section that meets throughout the year and is always keen to welcome new recruits, from complete novices to experienced "Trad" climbers.

A monthly newsletter and annual Bulletin are published.

The Grampian Club owns two properties which are superbly situated for access to some of Scotland’s finest mountains.  These are a well-appointed cottage in Torridon for the sole use of members and a basic but comfortable hut in Glen Etive.

The Grampian Club is a Club Member of  Mountaineering Scotland and this gives members access to a number of benefits.

The Grampian Club supports the annual Dundee Mountain Film Festival.

The Grampian Club works hard to protect the Scottish Mountain environment and rights of access. Current plans are for a new woodland to celebrate the Grampian Club's centenary.
